Constantly working on a hundred+ things, mostly offline. Misses the days of post draft previews. Remembers when colored games came on floppies. Talks politics. Prefers to draw pixel art but will make just about anything given an excuse.

Itch.io's Indexing

Posted by shadowfals - 1 month ago

For the first time ever since my first upload on that site, all of my projects on Itch.io show up in the site searches.

I currently have five projects up: two pixel art tile packs (free with the option to donate), two short ebooks, and a narrative game (free, simple browser thing).

I wasn't given an explanation for why "Little Red's Hoodie" was excluded from search results for three months.

For the record: like the later pixel art pack, the epub page wasn't reindexed; its unindexed state predates the mass shadowban bizarrely blamed on the Australian Collective Shout. (That group might be harassers, but they weren't the ones hiding down tens of thousands of works without notice.)

The "Aethereal" asset pack also hadn't been indexed before. That rainbow-displaying set was hidden for only about 18 days, likely was caught up in whatever was going on during Itch.io talks with VISA/Mastercard.

Anyhow, I'm working on more interactive fiction that should be available this month.
